Quite the visual of someone singing both the Canadian and American National Anthems, back to back, while walking around the Detroit Airport.

Allan serenaded me last night while awaiting boarding his plane in fog covered Detroit Rock City. We had a small bet, which I lost: Not only did I not know the anthem for Canada, I was quite rough on the American Version (I knew most of the words, in the wrong order, and needed much prompting). OOPS. Even sitting here, awaiting the verdict on the lawnmower situation (don't ask-I wonder how much a Goat would cost??), I'm quite rough on the Pledge of Allegence as well-says the former Cub Scout and wanna be Brownie.

I'm not patriotic and don't believe in putting any type of American flag or ribbon or bow or what-have you on my property including the Honda Civic.

I don't understand how buying a magnetic flag helps supports the troops, or wearing a flag on your shirt makes you more proud to be an American, when you already are an american citizen. Growing up in America I have had differnt opportunities than if I was raised in Europe, for example. My life options are differnt because of where I was raised and my disposition, but that is just geography.

Support to me, is more than just putting a sticker on your car. Where does the money go to, the troops or to the company who makes the damn things? I rather show my support by praising the goverment (which of course I wouldn't being against the war), or sending letters/care packages to the troops-for examples.....

IF you dont use something, you loose it. I'll put the blame on the fact that I don't go to sporting events, or Fourth of July bew-ha-has on the notion of why its been years since I have sang the National Anthem. Once upon the time I could repeat the Act Of Contrition (Catholic prayer), yet would need to be either around others saying it, or some prompting to get myself through it-its been awhile since I've sat in Church.

I believe in Freedom, I believe in organization. I excersize my right to vote into office who I feel would be a good "leader", and I'm proud to live in a country that has given me opportunity. I couldn't recite the Anthem off the top of my head. Its not on my to-do list to memorise it either. I know it was written by Frances Scott Key, and the history behind it. Does that make me less of an American then the next person?

At any rate, hearing him sing, while walking around Detroit Rock City Airport brought a smile to my face!
