Monday.

It's arts and crafts day.

I started this project last night. Over the course of the day, I have been able to perfect my sewing skills and pattern, to be able to produce surgical masks. It's the IN thing for spring 2020.

Everyone is going to be wearing them. Actually the CDC, and my employer is requiring it. They can be home-made, and washable. I hadn't given it much thought, until one of the girls I work for, was talking about her mom making them. I guess it never really occurred to me to make them.

My first proto-types were too big. Then I found some vintage cotton fabric that I bought at a rummage sale, and that had a linear design, and made pleating a whole lot easier. My failure on that, was when I washed them, the straps frayed like crazy. I have since perfected my strap technique, to prevent fraying from happening. Just wish I would of thought about that, prior to making 6 of them.

It's not difficult, more busy work than anything else. My thread wasn't the greatest. Once I found some decent thread, it was go-time. I spent most if not all day working on them. They turned out pretty good. Once I started to wash the ones I made, I decided to get all creative and made some Tie-Die ones! I'll have to post photos, but they are an interesting concept. Hey, if i have to wear a mask most of the day, I'm going to be stylish.

I had a wave of gratitude today. Grateful that a boyfried gave me a sewing machine, and that old lady showed me how to sew and make costumes, and the fact I had much everything on hand to create. I think that is what I really wanted to do, is create.
