Tension was high at rehearsal.
We started on time for once, and got through the whole production from Start to Finish. Also, another first. We preview in about 2 weeks.
The Assistant Director finally appeared after being remotely absent for most of our rehearsals. Not only did anger get miss directed at myself, she took control of the situation and kept on task. You could feel the tension between her and the director.
There are way too many kids in the production. Like 25 too many kids. I feel bad for the director, as apparently she has gotten email's regarding kids who can't be in every performance. Plus, they are trying to understudy since the Midwest has become the Covid-19 Epicenter. Right before the holidays.
Still, the last several rehearsals, the kids get noisy, the parents are getting upset with late rehearsals and little baby angels, the baby kids, being up probably way past there bedtime. Our rehearsal goes to 8:45 p.m. It Still sucks when people quit so close to opening. I'm just a bit surprised again, at the amount of kids in this production.
One of my fellow cast mates taught me knitting, which has been enjoyable at rehearsals. Should be interesting to see how this all plays out.
Oh and the girl playing Gladys, she calls me her stage grandma, gives me tons of hugs, and is a little diva. The 5th grader was having a conversation about Pride and Prejudice and Little Woman. It was super cute.
