Mercy Mercy Me
19 March 2007 20:21Dreamed of going back to work at Mercy Healthcare in Dubuque, Ia. I havn't been back since I left that morning, when the sun was breaking through the clouds. Someone left a note on my car. In the dream there was more than one building. It was in the morning again, and I ran around with papers flying trying to find the place where I was supposed to be. Ran into people I hadn't seen in years.
Mom woke me up. I was in a daze. She said to take care of myself, and don't do anything she wouldn't do. To be careful, protect myself, and be a good boy. I peaked through the sheets that covered my head and said "peak-a-boo" and drifted back to slumber land.
That was the summer, we took the car out on County Road B. Sarah and I. Pulled over, and laid down in the middle of the road. Heads to the sky, watching the stars, talking. That was the moment we knew each of our lives would change direction. That there is a big wide open world out there. And we become better for it.
Roads. Its the journey not the destination. Traveling home from the parents was a royal bitch. A. looked up on mapquest my exact location, the roads I would take back "home". Roads apon roads in every direction. Backroads of the mainline. Stoped at a few too many junk shops, filled the already filled trunk with my precious. Regreted for a few miles leaving the pocket watch behind.. but its only time..its only an object... and there are many roads ahead...
