10 November 2006

Its artificial Kate Moss Diet in EARLY november.

That's right kids, the frozen tundra of Minnesota has SNOWFALL.

FUCK.
November 13th marks 6 years at the hospital. During this time I have missed SEVEN days of work due to illness. I have been JERKED around with Scheduels, Assignments. I have also picked up shifts with little to no notice, driving through snowstorms, blizzards and Ice to get into work. I also have worked part or all of my shift: sleep deprived, short staffed, sick. Also have worked when I should have been on restrictions, switched days with co-workers which resulted in doing double backs, double shifts, and day on-day off situations.

I'm not perfect. I've made med-errs, bitched, slacked off, and made mistakes.

I'm SICK.

Sick of charge nurses who don't know staffing numbers from thier ass.
Sick of staff being on restrictions, who can't lift pts, yet still take full assignments.
SICK of STAFF CALLING IN "SICK", playing hooky, or lame excuses as "My car is snowed in", "Its raining", calling in within an hour of his or her shift-repeatedly.
Sick of Nursing Leadership NOT actively addressing the issue, or reprehending frequent call-in-er's.

I work so I can LIVE the lifestyle I do. I don't LIVE to work, whipe ass, or deal with difficult family members, doctors who fuck up, ect. ect.

*Sigh* *Breathe*

Work called me 3 times to pick up tonight. THere is only 2 staff on for 24 pts. TWO STAFF.
Chances are pretty good, I'll end up going in, and it pisses me off.

I'm Single, without kids, without family near by. I'm healthy, and have a "good work ethic"

Why is it that I feel PUNISHEMENT from nursing. Punishment because although I "help-out", I always get fucked over all the DAMN TIME.

The Icing on the cake: I got schedueled on my brirthday. Working nights, I work the night before, the night of, and the night after. AND, AND I'm turning thirty this year. My birthday, and chances are very good, I'll be wiping ASS.

YES, Nursing isn't a dream career. Is it too much to ask, for a little TEAMWORK?? From a pool of 75 staff who work on our floor, and I'm the only one that can pick up a shift on a Friday Night??
