Its late.
Someone commented to an entry I had made that really started the thoughts brewing. I don't defend my actions unless they are warrented. I don't expect anyone to agree or disagree with any choices I have made, I only ask for respect. And no, I wasn't defending my actions: more exploring a comentary on where I came from, and what I know.
The world is completely fucked up on all acounts. The idea of someone from Texas who leads a nation whose technology rely's on oil, goes and bombs another country ALONE, and says "america has a problem with oil" is FUCKED UP! This same person who asks for more money to lead this blind mans search for some meaning in the dessert when the nation as a whole is so far in debt-is FUCKED UP! Why are we going full spead ahead when we should try to save ourselves or what is left? Here's an idea: use the billion of dollars to use technology not to build ourselves a faster internet connect, a faster plane, a stronger building, but to use technology to find alternatives to fossil fuel, solutions to hunger, disease, costs of healthcare, blah blah blah....
Why not? Because of the whole nature/nurture proposition. We are taught at an early age to be all that we can be, to strive for the best; that being gay, single, fat, black, homeless, handicaped, drug user IS WRONG. The notion of having a white wedding, 2.5 kids, a white picket fence, a mortgage, and a dog is not only strong, but it is what we should all strive to. Children are still raised that, yes, they to can become president, which is quite funny given that in the history of the united states there has NEVER been a woman or black president to date.
Being single, gay, is still seen as odd. Playing by ones own rules in life is seen as ODD. Society doesn't accept that. Diviants on any account are seen as a threat to the white wedding bullshit, and like any threat (domistic or forigen), they should be blown up. Isn't that what history showed us: America did a fucking number on the black population: stole them from africa, brought them over to be slaves and then wanted them kicked back out, and it was a WOMAN who took a stand. Mcarthyism sure tried to find the red haring's in the supermarket: everyone was a communist, and communists should be killed. Homosexuals are nothing more than men with psycological issues (it was sill in the DMSIV untill the 1970's), that should be beaten or killed. It wasn't untill a DRAG queen threw the first rock at stone wall, and yet in the news some kid took out a gay bar.
And yet it takes MORE energy to be a non-conformist, to look at the world and FUCK IT. It takes EVEN more energy to even to attempt to change it. And yet even though there are ripples, oh we have so much farther to go.
We are all in this together, and no matter what happens, we are all going to die. There is no holy grail, no fountain of youth, no soorcerers stone-WE WILL ALL DIE.
So call me a non-conformist, call me a freak. I make decisions based on knowledge and experience. They are not always not popular. I have no regrets. All I ask is for respect and anyone who can't give me that, has no business being in my life.
