I worked three days this past week. Prior to one I had a reception to attend at the clinic. For months the drag queens have been askign me to perform at the suedo gay bar in town. For whatever reason, I got a wild burr up my bunghole and decided to perform.

Its been over a year.

During that time I had gotten rid of most of my costumes, wigs, shoes, and accesories. I'm down to the bare minimum, which isn't much for someone who used to perform weekly. At anyrate, I was creative and threw somethings together.

At work on Wednesday night, I took care of D again. A middle aged Cardiac ICU Rn, who fell down a ladder and did a number on himself. Interesting individual and wonderful person. While taking care of him, I could only think of the dichatomy of it all. Nurse by day, drag queen by night. THe total difference in the roles. Messed around with gender roles, dyed my hair and called me pretty. I find it quite interesting that at one moment I'm a health care giver, the next-stripping in a bar, in makeup with my dick between my legs. ITs odd, and yet freeing.

My makeup job sucked. My performance sucked. The stage was very hard to work, and once you got on it, the lighting is SO poor, one can't see shit. Any rate, I had fun. Gosh Alice Jones asked why I went back to it, since I made a bold statement, I am DONE. Period. End of discussion. Its like ridinig a bike, once you know how, you never forget.

Its a mask. Its a facade. All the worlds a stage.

People watching should be an olympic sport. Hands down.

Society is a mix match of individuals with his or her own story to share.

Sitting in the Perkin's booth, I had a great one on one eye sight with him.

Full head of hair, balding wasn't a factor in his genetic makeup. Brown hair, black glasses, clean shaven, freshly showered, the scent lingering on. Clean cut-yet neardy and profesional, cell phone/pager on the belt. Must of been a mayo employee. Having a late breakfast, with his young female child on his lap. Feeding two mouths with one hand. Her little face smothered in the breakfast. He sat there alone. Blue jeans on. Crisp and clean. What's his story...

[livejournal.com profile] imyaj is insightful. A sounding bored with a vision I sometimes overlook. "You do want you want, when you want to do it"-if you don't feel like doing it, you won't. Its on your terms.... and that was the insight...over lunch, over people watching, at perkins.
