After a wonderful Mexican dinner, we went back to the flat while the roomates and I worked on some art-work. I might of mentioned this before, I felt intimidated by working on my little altered pages, while the roomates did magnificant artwork. I wish I would of scored some of there stuff... the braclet that J. made and the books that R. made were fantastic. I specially liked the book made out of the coke can. At anyrate, I use art as thearpy, and as a release.
Friday I got up late. Was going to hit some rummage sales, but that quite did not happen. Managed to finally become among the land of the living, and decided to hit some thift stores in Athens.
There is something unique about traveling, and going to second hand stores. For one, its a gamble, one never knows what he or she may find, and second, one can pick up some great local crap as souvineers. Surprisngly even with R.'s directions, I found my self around Athens pretty well. Even though I hadn't been there in a year, I found the roads and directions comming back to me quicker than I thought. The pottery house faired pretty well with some figurings my family collects. Scored. Then I headed out towards commerace to that place with the cow and sunglasses. ITs basically a hole in the wall, but boy do they have some good shit. Orginally the plan was to score a vintage phone booth and install it as my downstairs shower stall.. but at 600.00 (I know), not so much.
Hit a rummage sale and picked up a soccer t-shirt for a .25.
Then hit downtown athens.
