I'm back from Iowa City. Extremly glad that I went, if nothing else for a great break in the cycle.

Saw this on Yahoo news, which lately is my only news source: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050330/sc_nm/environment_earth_dc_3

Human Damange to Earth worstening fast, is the headline. DUH! How long has this been going on? There must not be much other news, no star divorces, wars, distasters, to put in the news, so they have to write about how humans are destroying earth-- which we have been doing for centuries--DUH. ALl I have to say is DUH!

Post more later... 8-)
I had my reservations of traveling down to Iowa City, prior to my depature. However, I also had encouragment from my posse to 'just do it'. [livejournal.com profile] imayj gave me the "goods", left rochester about 1300, and headed south. The drive was pretty uneventfull. Hwy 63 runs through the getto of Waterloo, Ia. Damn, there are some great run down houses there-victorian, and wonderful japenese bungalows. Quite a few bungalows actually.

Prior to leaving Rochester, I had noticed, and mentioned to Jaymi that I didn't have my road atlas with me. It wasn't a problem untill i sort of found myself "lost"--I was on the interstate, heading the right direction, yet wasn't 100% sure. Threw in some Cd's, sunroof down, had a smoke- and wouldn;t you know, the country song "Head carolina, tails california" came on, as I was going under the sign for Iowa City. It was fate-at its finest. Had some horrible chinese at "panda express" (what was I thinking?), and headed over the the campus.

The gig was actually located aways away from where I had parked. Took off, and hiked. Those crazy college kids, in shorts thinking it was July-eye candy was nice however. Made it to the hall, and S. was outside. Hugs were exchanged......

As far as my reservations, it was a fabrication of my imagination. R. is the same old, and I am excited about his interview in NYC.

The concert was amazing. His music is alot differnt live than on the album. He did a cover of Britney's "Baby one more time" that brought a new light onto this pop song. His cover of With our without you was breathtaking beutiful, refreshing, and in his own style...

Surprisingly, have played Iowa City prior, the crowd was quaint. I thought maybe more of a punch!

Stayed over, although I didn't sleep much. Maybe it was my sleep scheduel, maybe I just had alot on my mind, maybe it was the conversation. Took off to MN. Stoped at the Goodwill in Iowa City (one of 2), picked up a few books: Florence Nightengales Notes on nursing, and a book on Anne Frank, I don't have.

The drive back, uneventful. Sunny, refreshing, and not much else new......
