14 October 2003 02:14I picked up tonight for the cash.

I picked up tonight for the cash.
I picked up tonight to see B.
I picked up tonight to see B.
Keep telling yourself that, and maybe you will believe the former than the later. I thought alot about B and D today. I even opened up to Meg who is in my theater class about it. so when I drove back to Rochester, from La Crosse tonight, I had a long drive and thought about things. I almost stayed in la crosse, but didn't, and drove back kind of down on how auditions went ect. Got home and had a message ot pick up some O.T. I had to ask if B was on the floor. Bingo he was. Would I want to pick up 8 hours, and have him as a patient...
well guess where I am now!
I got here, and went to the locker room, and looked in my mailbox as i commonly do. there was a note, in red pencil (the same pencils we ahve at the desk, on scratch paper that we have at the desk). My first hought was a note from my nurse manager for something, or a note from a staff member. Wrong. "Kevin M is okay-the surgery went well-no complications-Thanks for eveyrthing, it helpedtotalk. Thanks to all of you. Call us if you ever want 888-888-888 b and D" By this time, I am on cloud nine, gitty as a school girl. Totally excited, elated..
I went to print off my report sheet from the computer, and noticed that there was someone in B's bed. Curious, I asked our charge nurse, and she said... well I thought, btu she had looked at the charge dry erase board which wasn't updated, and he was NOT on our floor. Reality, and my bubble popped. Because I know I would of NOT picked up overtime, if he wasn't on the floor. I had motives..and everyone knows that.
It's odd. Odd to go into the room. To see his bed, with a female in it. To see his stuff gone. To look and know he isn't in there. To know who was in the bed. I had the same feeling when the guy in 14 coded on me. The next time i worked, I had a pt in 14, and going into that room for the first time, it was strange. Odd... differnt.
I took the balls and called the nursing unit he is on. He is doing well and NO COLOSTOMY!!
THANK YOU JESUS!!!!
and I am left with my own thoughts to ponder...
do I see him in the a.m., do I call?
