Finally took my homemade headache concoction of 2 Tylenol and 4 Advil which has made the difference. Finally got some soup/toast/apples in my system. Should probably take a shower before I go to bed. Wouldn't hurt.
At the 11th hour, hit up the 9:00 p.m. viewing of Wicked last night, 3D version. Mainly to do something and get out of the house. Dropped an edible during the previews. Details behind the cut.
The movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes in length composing of the first act of the musical. The musical in its entirely is 2 hours and 40 minutes. The extension was pretty unnecessary, waiting for another year for the second half, is just about uncalled for.
It's a spectical. I quite enjoyed the additions of key points to the plot with references to the Wizard of Oz.
Casting was well done. Not sure if Boyen Yang was utilized to his fullest, Madam Morrible was excellent along with the Wizard. The leads did well.
It was entertaining, with a very well screen adaption of the musical. The length and the manipulation of some of the songs, did not carry the feelings from the stage. The relationship between to two leads could have been developed more, with the final song being a bit more extended and ax'd which was a bit of a let down.
Those fans of the musical will more than likely be upset and torn. The length got to me. It was a long showing of something that could been compressed into one and done. The music was good along with the visuals and influence of details.
