The Bubble Lady
8 May 2007 20:02Afterwards, I sat outside the building, awaiting the shuttle bus. there was this middle age lady, content, dressed in a pink outfit with glasses, blowing bubbles. Yes, Bubbles.
As a rule, on any given day, people watching downtown Rochester is a premium: Muslims, wheel-chairs, people with artifical limbs, things growning outside of peoples heads-classic... there are alot of crazies in this town, therefore a lady blowing bubbles, didn't really phase me, yet there was something innocent and peacefull about her.
She got on the bus, sat ahead of me, knew the bus driver, and said Hi to anyone who entered her realm. She was itching to push down the window to blow bubbles. The conversation started, and her sole purpose on her day off was to go downtown, pick up her inter-clinic mail and blow bubbles.
"The bubbles come in these fun little colored containers". Today, it was purple. "They are a dollar for a huge package at the dollar store", with a huge smile of excitement.
She works in stem-cell harvesting, giving cancer patients more time.
We arrived in the shuttle lot, she got off before me, and as the bus pulled away, she started blowing bubbles once again... the bubbles blowing in the wind....
