Corretta Scott King
8 February 2006 02:31Was the funeral for Civil Rights Leader Corretta Scott King a traditional burial ceremony or a shroud to cover yet another summit on politics, oil prices, and what's wrong with the american goverment (basically a political ralley)?
Where I get confused is between the massive auditorium babtist church holdings of "grey haired Civil Rights Veterans( as quoted by yahoo.com"), that once served as a KKK site ralley, and the eulogy's discussing the Iraq war, Hurricane Katrina, and the Bush Administration. Is this truely A) the way King would want her funeral to be played out, B) the correct and proper venue for such a tirate at what is "wrong" with the United States of America, and lastely C) the way we should honor the widow of Civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King who coined the phrase "I have a dream"?
When the Rev. Martin Luther King was burried, current Presidnet Johnson attended a political discussion in regards to Vietnam conversations. King got a national bank and postal holiday in his honor.
Has America's leaders become so shallow as to avoid proper behavior at a lavish funeral service, or is the problem much greater than that-as to the leaders not seeing the large picture, not being able to multi-task.
Leaders are looked up to for example, trusted to make the right decisions, and honored or dishonored for his or her attempts. The problem is not only a lack of leadership, but the courage and wisdom to learn to arise from the distruction and take it upon ourselves to make a change.
May King rest in peace, and know that not only her work, but her husbands is keeping the dream alive.
